Warning: this one is HUGE. Just downloading it is probably the best thing to do
Thought about making a lil' tutorial about my personal technique for cleaning up lineart... I may do a tutorial about colouring, also, if I feel like it. A tablet is not needed, given that this is the strategy I've refined in time before I got it... hope it's some help to someone, somewhere ^^
Oh, and it also contains a sneak peek of my next deviantArt ID. Enjoy!
Woo, it's cool!
I'm fairly new to Photoshop, but i think I'll use your tut as reference and guide, because from what I read so far, it sounds really good! Not easy, but good !
If well done, it gives a very clean look to the lines, which is good for colouring ^^
Believe me, the difficult part was learning all of this Once learnt, it's very straightforward and you start doing it spontaneously, because you know the results are worth the effort

I'm lazy, so I just get the drawing on GIMP, make a new [transparent] layer above it, make the bottom one ~30% opaque (so I can see what I've already done etc) and trace over it with paintbrush and curve tool (stroking with the paintbrush). It's so much quicker than trying to clean around the lines though, eh? I've learnt NEVER to do that ever again!
Heh, I never digitally ink, i have a very bold inking pen since I use non-photo blues, so I never have to do more than a detail here or there on the lineart once I scan it. Just actual editing, and then coloring using over-layers.
Actually 1.2mb is quite small in tutorial terms, which is a good thing! Normally it's like, 2mb or more XD
Interestin' techniques thar, certainly useful for someone who sketches. Thankfully I just go straight to digital lineart, skip the whole 'messy' phase : T
Hey! This is really handy... if you use PS. You should do this for those of us who mainly work in Painter... The final product really _does_ look like a properly-drawn inked image; I'm just crushed to find out that what I thought were really l33t drawing skillz on your part were actually more a matter of programming, so to speak. *sigh*
Don't tell me your next tutorial will be how to auto-shade and color an image...
A brand new monthly article which showcases some of deviantART's finest equine artists, as well as recognizing the lesser-known but equally talented ones. Interviews, helpful tutorials and features can all be found here too! I hope you enjoy it.
The idea of this contest is to set you up completely blind with a mythical being - from any world culture - and turn you loose to come up with a deviation based around it!
In this article you will find many thumbnails of the sun in different forms, all photography featured here by the club feature-me. Please show your support for these artists and their work and the article so that more people can see their work.
Daily Literature Deviations is a group that is dedicated to bringing literature to the forefront of the deviantArt community. We attempt to accomplish this by daily featuring Literature artists from around the community that deserve the recognition, but are not getting it. Each day we will feature 10 deviations from the Literature categories in a News Article. In order to support the artists that we feature, we ask that you the news article as well as check out the individual pieces. We understand that each day you may not be able to check out each and every one of the pieces, everyone has their own things going on. We just ask that you make an attempt to help support the growing Literature community.
A collection of the most beautiful and amazing square photographs I found among my favourites. Please have a look and give these artists the attention they deserve!
